About Us

BioCam designs and manufactures an endoscopic capsule for imaging of the digestive system along with AI-powered software for automatic detection and real-time determination of potential threats. The company’s goal is to reduce the cost of gastrointestinal examinations, increase patient comfort and popularization of capsule endoscopy.

Meet us

We are specialists in fields such as microelectronics, microoptics, programming, medicine and business. Some of us have 30 years of experience in the medical industry and scientific projects. We develop innovative medical technologies.

We develop and build an innovative hardware and digital platform for performing gastrointestinal tract diagnosis by capsule endoscopy. Currently used solutions have disadvantages which our project solves. The main problems of currently used endoscopic capsules for gastrointestinal imaging are: the time needed to analyze the test results and the cost of the test itself.
After completion of industrial works, the prototype will enable:
• significant reduction of time and costs of the examination – the doctor receives a set of photos qualified by the image recognition system as a potential threat (instead of hours of video material) – analysis of the results can be shortened up to 30 minutes
• reducing the cost of the device and enabling the removal of barriers to the widespread use of this method in the diagnosis of gastrointestinal diseases.

Our goal is to increase patient comfort, standards of medical care and to popularize the latest technological developments in the field of medicine.

Why Capsule Endoscopy?

Low-invasiveness examination

Capsule endoscopy is one of the safest and minimally invasive gastrointestinal studies. It is a study that provides much more data from gastroenterology and colonoscopy, because it is able to give a picture of the entire digestive system.

Everybody has to go through the tests

Colonoscopy, i.e. a preventive examination for early detection of colorectal cancer, should be performed by everyone over the age of 50. The group of people who are at increased risk of cancer includes close relatives, i.e. parents, siblings or grandparents who have had cancer, but also people who have been suffering from inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease, Colitis ulcerosa) for a long time, have or had an intestinal polyp detected, or observed blood in the stool. In this case, colonoscopy is very important. Colonoscopy is also recommended:
– in case of anemia due to iron deficiency;
– in inflammatory bowel diseases;
– in constipation;
– in diarrhea and pencil stools;
– in diverticula.

High comfort of examination

Capsule endoscopy is the most comfortable method for examining the digestive system. It is carried out with the help of a patient swallowed capsule containing a miniaturized wireless digital camera, LED lamp, and radio transmitter. It passes through the gastrointestinal tract in a physiological, natural way, like the bite of the digestive tract, transmitting the image to the recorder all this time. Thanks to the recorded video, you can trace the image of the entire digestive tract.
